Sept 25: King Quiting: Writer Stephen King has officially announce that he will be putting down his quill after he finishes several more books. Once he finishes his three remaining books in his fantasy series 'The Dark Tower', that's it. King went on to say he would never stop writing, but he will stop publishing, he doesn't need the money.  Well Mr. King, you could continue to publish and donate the money to worthwhile projects or some truly needy homeless shelters. Heave forbid that could happen.

Sept 25: Haunted: The series debut of UPN's new series Haunted opened to a somewhat impressive rating of 4.0/6 rating, but came in last in its timeslot for the night, even getting beaten by the WB's 'Grounded for Life'.

Sept 25: Smallville Scores: The return of the WB's young Superman series 'Smallville' did much better than the season opener of Enterprise. Smallville scored a 6.3/9 rating, and finished third in its timeslot.

Sept 25: Buffy Duds Out: The season premiere of Buffy on UPN may have let the producers know it's time to let Buffy kill her last vampire. Buffy, the Vampire Slayer only staked out a mere 4.0/6 rating. At least Haunted afterwards was able to maintain most of the Buffy audience... what few there was.

Sept 25: Monster Megabucks: In the first seven days of release on DVD, Monsters Inc. has taken $179M and made another $256M at the domestic box office. Pixar is one happy company. To bad Disney is involved with Pixar.

JMS will remain the main man behind the series, writing most of the scripts as well as casting and post production duties. Grant will be doing a few scripts this season and handle the day to day creative production. While they don't have storylines set for the 15 episodes of season two they do have a general idea of where the season is going. Within the next few days fans can expect an announcement on two new cast members for the series. Stars Perry and Warner are locked for the series, but Mr. Rosenberg wouldn't tell me the length of their deals.

Sept 21: Batman Movie: Toonzone.net is scooping that Warner Brothers is moving forward with plans for another direct to video animated Batman feature titled, 'Batman: The Mystery of the Batwoman'.

Sept 21: Firefly: I found the effects quite good, the acting very good, and found the first episode less than stellar. The old west style future with the pinging guitar music background was... interesting. Kind of reminded me of Brisco County meets Space Rangers mixed with some Dark Angel. I found little to be impressed with in week one. Week 2 had better be good or the audience is outta here. Friday night is a rough night for any series. The death of Dark Angel is proof - and it died for Firefly.

Sept 21: John Doe Review: While the season of new television doesn't look too promising one of the shows I was looking forward to was John Doe. As the show opens our hero John Doe (Dominic Purcell) is awaken lying naked in the woods. As he comes to his senses and begins running through the woods he slips and falls into the ocean. Discovered the next morning by fisherman John is taken aboard. Looking around he see everything in black and white. As the fisherman talk to him he soon learns to his disbelief that not does he understand their language but speaks it. Not only does he know that, but as the show progresses John seems to know everything...except who he is. Also he has some unknown symbol branded onto his chest, Using is unbound knowledge John heads to the track and gets some nice start-up money. As he strikes it rich he learns a valuable lesson when one of the horses he bets on falls in the reason. While he might know most things he's able to predict the future. The next day John takes his track winnings and invests it in a sure thing he discovered in the stock market and over night he's loaded.

While walking around the city of Seattle one night he walks into a bar and plays the piano. For some reason the song "My funny Valentine" seems familiar to him. while he's there the owner Digger (William Forsythe) offers him a job and John settles into his new life. While watching Jeopardy one night John sees a news report of a missing girl, but for some reason he can see her in color. knowing this must mean something, a link to his past a reason for his gift of unlimited knowledge John convinces the cop on the case that HE can help him find the missing girl. Long story short John using his unlimited knowledge to find that the girl has been kidnapped by her father who faked his death. John tracks the man down, rescues the little girl and saves the day. The little girl offers John no clues as to who he is so he returns to his life. As the show ends he walking on the docks and a women on a boat recognizes him and starts yelling the name "Tony" Giving us the first clue of who he is, but John does not hear her. He only knows that somebody knows him. Tune in next week.

My Take: I liked it. Purcell's acting is above average and he makes me want to know just who he is. The show is clever and John displays of his knowledge are quite cool. My only problem with that is, I watched a Discovery special on the brain once and it basically said that if you retained everything you saw just on your drive to work in your memory it would basically overload your mind. So the idea that John is somehow able to retain all this info seems unrealistic. Ah, but I'm picky that way. I would have preferred that more clues to the mystery of who John is where revealed, but not rushing a story isn't bad thing. Now the big problem for John Doe is when it's on. Friday is a death blow for a show of this type. It killed Dark Angel because your target audience is at the mall not at home. The good news for it is it's competition. New show Hack what looks like Touched by a Cab Driver is my pick for first show of the year to be canceled. That was Then doesn't look much better. Leaving just Dateline to take away viewers. Hopefully John Doe can garner a good opening audience and keep them hooked. From seeing the first episode...well I'll at least keep watching. Not a good sign though...every show I watch gets canceled. To bad I never watched Friends (Scott Strout)

Sept 20: FASTLANE Review: Here's what I got from it. The show is just like watching any Hollywood action movie. It's filled with quick cut camera shot, plenty of clichés, unrealistic action scenes and characters you won't remember unless you show up and watch next week. Also, like any good Hollywood movie our heroes are always ready with a good comeback, no matter how dire the circumstance and star Facinelli has plenty of chances to run around with his shirt off and gets surrounded by plenty of beautiful women. The show's humor is mostly sophomoric and the acting is on the level of a good porn flick. If your the type of person who likes a good action flick with little story then you'll like the show. If your looking for a good cop show like Miami Vice...forget it. Just wait for HBO to replay the first season of "The Wire" and hope it gets renewed. I really don't give Fastlane much hope. At 9 PM it will be up against "The Amazing Race", "West Wing", "Bachelor" and "Dawson's Creek" it has to hope that whatever audience watched it the first week sticks with it. If not it's doomed. also from watching the show it can't be cheap and that's will be it's biggest shovel full on the coffin if the ratings don't last. I give it maybe a chance to show whatever episodes they've filmed, but am doubtful it will get a pick-up. (Scott Strout)

Sept 20: Scooby Rumor: One can only hope that while they were spoofing things on the Jamie Kennedy experiment with Freddy Prince Jr. they were also joking about his salary of $20M for the sequel to Scooby Doo. No way is this guy worth that kind of money. (bruce)

Sept 20: Xena DVD Boxed Set: The season one DVD boxed set of Xena: Warrior Princess is finally available, but only through the Official Website. Sept 20: Dr. Who Returns: After running for 26 years and getting the axe in 1989 looks to be returning to the small screen on BBC1. (mirror.co.uk & denny hanes)

Sept 20: Cold Cases:  This another new series from Jerry Bruckheimer titled 'Cold-Cases' will be joining both CSI series on CBS. The new series is about a female detective heading a cold-case squad. Bruckheimer is is hot with CBS with series CSI, CSI: Miami, and Without A Trace.

Sept 20: Sci-Fi Still Silent: The Sci-Fi Channel is still refusing to talk with CNN Headline News concerning the Farscape cancellation. Hey, fuckem'. True fans are watching the friggin' channel anyways.

Sept 20: Spidey Rewrite: Alfred Gough and Miles Millar were to have done the rewrite for the Amazing Spiderman, but they're out and Pulitzer Prize Winner Michael Chabon is in. He rewrites the draft done by David Koepp, who wrote the first film. Guess he isn't good enough to do the sequel? Doh!

Sept 20: Enterprise: Are fans tired of the series already? Rick Berman still dishing out the standard Star Trek dribble? The second season premiere of Enterprise stayed near it ratings for the season last year, but was nowhere near the 9.1 rating it opened with last year. This seasons first episodes drew a 4.9 rating. Fans of the Star Trek franchise are tired of the stupid time travel storylines. It's a crappy fall back from the 60's where Kirk and crew did it three times. Twice by accident. Berman and staff just can't get away from it.

Sept 20: Twilight Zone Scores: It's only the first week, but the new Twilight Zone series on UPN actually retained most of its Enterprise audience earning a 4.6 rating, which is what they the network wanted. Special Unit 2, which occupied the slot last season earned a 3.9 rating.

Sept 20: Hellraiser VII: Production is set for the seventh sequel of Hellraiser. The direct to video feature, originally created by Clive Barker, will film in Romania beginning Oct 21st with Rick Bota directing. Doug Bradley will reprise his role as Pinhead. There is a ton of money to be made in the 'B' direct to video market. With Hellraiser comes word that there might also be a Phantasm 5 direct to video film in the development stages.

Sept 20: Bewitched: Another series planned for the big screen by Columbia Pictures has a big name actress negotiating for the lead role as Samantha Stevens - a witch who marries a mortal that refuses to let her work her magic. That actress is none other than Nicole Kidman. Austin Powers star Mike Myers is the leading candidate for the role of Darrin. (hollywood reporter)

Sept 20: Birds of Prey: A new VHS Cover Sheet for 'Birds of Prey' has been added to the site for download. Fresh off my design board and ready for downlaod. Enjoy. More cover sheets are on the way... Been is a no work zone for a while...

Sept 19: J'Lo Pregnant: Rumor has it that Jennifer Lopez 32 (the Cell), is pregnant. Who's baby is it though? They say its Ben Affleck's (Daredevil), but the woman has been getting around over the last year or so. Time will tell whose sex-trophy/rug rat it really is.

Sept 18: Holy Effects Batman: Every wonder what the Boy Wonder, Robin, has been up to since his role in the 1960's cult series 'Batman & Robin'? Well Bert Ward at the age of 55 in 2001 started his own visual effects house titled, 'Boy Wonder Visual Effects'. Ward only sleeps about three hours per day and his effects house has done over 20 films including 'Legally Blonde' and the upcoming 'Bulletproof Monk' starring Chow Yun Fat. (Brian Pesti & CNN)

Sept 18: Bowder Interview: If you missed the live interview with Farscape actor Ben Browder you can CLICK HERE for the hotwired area at CNN.

Sept 18: Hanks Hangs It Up: Actor Tom Hanks (Big, Apollo 13) has decided to give up directing. He believes that it takes up to much time from his family and the pressure is just too great.

Sept 18: Interesting Tid-Bit: The owner of the new Palms casino here in Las Vegas must not think that much of his new casino. Why is that you ask? Well, the multi-millionaire stays at the MGM in their 15000 square foot suite when he's in town. Interesting eh... There is no charge for this area at MGM. It's a comp for any player who averages six grand per hand at the tables.

Sept 18: Galaxy Guide: Chicken Run scribe Karey Kirkpatrick has signed on to co-adapt 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy', which will based on the late Douglas Adams novel of the same name. Wtichblade was canceled by TNT despite averaging over 2.0 every episode of the two seasons.

Sept 18: Batman vs Superman Dead: Brett Ratner confirmed that the proposed 'Batman vs Superman' feature is now dead a Warner Brothers because of his film.

Sept 18: S.W.A.T.: L.L. Cool J. has signed on to play Deke, a leading member of the team, in the upcoming S.W.A.T. feature film which also stars Collin Ferrell, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, and Michelle Rodriguez.

Sept 16: Bat vs Supe: Batman vs Superman has been pushed back by Warner Bros. due to the fact that they fear fans might not like seeing two superheroes battling in out with each other. So Warner Bros. President Alan Horn has decided to go with the Superman project because of its lighter appeal and would be the first in a new trilogy. It is possible that 'Batman vs Superman' could actually be scrapped by Warner Bros. completely. (toonzone.net) Check out ToonZone for the entire article.

Please do your part to help save the best Sci-Fi series on television today. CLICK HERE to help. While the Sci-Fi Channel is listening, so are other networks. All this hype has at least reopened negotiations between Henson and the SFC. What negotiations? There is already a contract in place for the fifth season. Better another network or syndication rather than returning to the horrible Sci-Fi Channel.

Sept 16: Stargate SG-1: Now Gateworld is debunking the rumor that the Sci-Fi Channel has picked up Stargate SG-1 for a seventh season.

Sept 15: Alias Underground: ABC is hoping to add a few online gaming geeks to their fan base for 'ALIAS'. The network has launch Alias Underground as a free interactive download. Two missions are available now with a total of ten planned. Players MUST watch Alias each week to gather codes and information to continue game play. The SFC also has a series based on Tremors in the coming, along with possible series from their telefilms based on Quantum Leap and Battlestar GAlactica.

Sept 15: Lost Series: How much has the Sci-Fi Channel hurt fans... The list is long, but distinguished. Babylon 5 fans were dumped on with the handling of 'Babylon 5: Legend of the Rangers', 'Invisible Man', 'Farscape', 'Black Scorpion', 'the Chronicles', 'Secret Adventures of Jules Verne'. 'Good vs Evil', and 'Mystery Science Theater 3000'.

Sept 15: Indiana Jones DVD's: Heard any rumors about an Indiana Jones boxed set in, or around, October of 2003? Well, it's just a rumor folks. Lucasfilm has given word they have no release date set for the DVD boxed set of the three films.

The fourth season was pretty much wrapped when word came down about season five not being picked up by the Sci-Suk Channel. While Dave Kemper and O'Bannon have been commissioned for a feature film script, it would not deal with the cliffhanger episode, but be a stand alone story. A sci-fi insider reports that talks continue with Farscape's production team but there is nothing to ensure anything positive will come from it.

Sept 14: Nemesis on UPN: UPN will attempt to lure all Trek fans to the premiere of Enterprise season 2 with the promise of a new trailer for Star Trek Nemesis on Wednesday, Sept. 18th. Sept 13: UPN & Farscape: The word is out that UPN, the United Paramount Network, might be interested in picking up the series 'Farscape' after the Sci-Fi Channel's announcement of the series cancellation. UPN is considering the series for the 2003/2004 season. The timing is perfect with Buffy entering its seventh and likely last season since Gellar has no interest in returning. From Marc Berman's daily report inside the industry. This is a great thing to push for. Just remind all the cast and producers that this doesn't mean a pay raise, so that the Henson and Hallmark entities can generate enough profit to make it worth their investment, and it could work. The big trick? To convince the network that they need to keep shooting the show in Australia not only would it be phenomenally less expensive, but it would be much easier for the creative crew to keep working with a minimum of network "help". How BIG is this series really? CNN has covered the Save Farscape campaign. (Thanks to Noah Caraker)

Sept 13: Captain Justice: Roger Corman is stepping behind the camera again to do another low budget 'B' movie. Sept 13: Sleepwalker: Actor Laurence Fishburn (the Matrix) has joined with CBS and Spawn scribe Alan B. McElroy to create a next generation superhero titled 'Sleepwalker'. Most genre shows by CBS have ended up on UPN, so look for the genre series there, even though there is no official word on which network will get it.  (hollywood reporter)

Sept 13: Crowe's Fountain: The Fountain, which was dumped by Brad Pitt, has been offered to Russell Crowe. If Crowe gives the thumbs up the project remains a go, but should the actor give the thumbs down the feature is a NO-GO. (moviehole.net)

Sept 13: Jeremiah: As reported 'Jeremiah', from creator JMS (babylon 5), got renewed by Showtime for 15 episodes. But did you know that every episode came in under budget. This is nothing unusual for JMS. For five season of Babylon they never went over budget. One season JMS handed Warner Brothers back one million dollars. What makes Jeremiah so special in this respect is that the series is filmed almost entirely outdoors in the elements. (b5tv.com)

Sept 13: Crowe to Pretend: Zap2it.com is reporting that Russell Crowe and his band '30 Odd Foot of Grunts' may be invited to tour and open for 'The Pretenders'. The Pretenders are currently opening for Rolling Stones and their Licks tour. Crowe would need to find time in his busy filming career to tour with them.

Sept 13: The Shield to Disc: FX is planning to put their hot new series 'The Shield' to DVD boxed set January 7th, the same day season two is set to premiere. Fox has done this with 24 and now The Shield. Where the HELL is 'Dark Angel'? The Shield will be a four disc set.

They have created websites to save the series as well as a PETITION you can sign. The Sci-Fi Channel has yet to acknowledge the fans of any original series they have had. Bonnie Hammer is awesome at shooting sunshine up the fans asses, and then doing something totally off the wall.

Sept 11: The Rats: It's been a year since the made for TV movie was pulled by Fox after the Sept. 11th tragedy from its broadcast. Sept 11: Pitch Black: Ja Rule looks to be following Vin Diesel from Fast and the Furious to the sequel to Pitch Black in 'Pitch Black: The Chronicles of Riddock'. Ja Rule was offered an increased role in Furious 2 after Diesel backed out, but he felt it was the best move for him at the time.

Sept 11: Gaming News: Microsoft has apparently snapped up the gaming company 'Rareware'. The company was the number one second party developer for Nintendo, and they owned 49% of the company. But with no new Gamecube games on the horizon the deal with Microsoft makes sense.

Sept 11: Disney Ripoff: How much would you pay to visit DisneyWorld? Well Disney thinks it should cost more, and as of this Sunday, will raise prices by $2. Adults will get ripped off for $50 per ticket. If your over nine years old you pay adult prices. Ages 3 to 9 get in for a mere $40 each. Sept 10: Farscape the Movie: The Hensen Company and co-creator Rockne' OBannon are working on a script for a Japanese-style anime feature film idea. What the hell aren't they working on bring Farscape itself to the big screen.   I-Man fans and others are apparently the reason for Farscape's demise. After I-Man was dumped, a multitude of fans have sworn off the SFC regardless of how much they enjoy Farscape. The ratings last year at this time were 1.7, while this year the show drop to a 1.2 rating through the same period. The actual drop in viewership was minimal going from 1.32M to 1.2M. Thus the SFC exercised its right to pull back from season 5. The network thought better to cancel the series then listen to their fans... again. And yet, the fans have spoken.

Cable modem has been down while I relocated to nicer surroundings and it took three extra days to get the damn cable transferred and up again. But it's done... and the updates will be hitting again almost daily. Thanks for you patience.

Sept 9: Dead Zone: Lucky for fans this one isn't a Sci-Fi Channel series. The USA network though isn't much better. Anthony Michael Hall told the Sci-Fi Wire that work is already underway on its second season. The writers are already coming up with storylines.

Sources say Fox has already begun work on new editions of the classic sci-fi films, but no official announcement or details have been released so far. Stay tuned!

Sept 9: Farscape: Fans are apparently upset over word from the actors that Farscape has indeed been canceled by the Shit-Hole-Scum-Sucking-Asswipes at the Sci-Fi Channel, and... they had no intention of telling the fans. There will now be NO season five. Scifi2k.com told fans over a week ago this was happening... And... it has. Look forward to a SAVE FARSCAPE campaign in the next few days. With the Sci-Fi Channel, it's always like this... isn't it? Don't worry though, you'll still have reruns of the X-Files to look forward to, right? The SFC announced it plans today, using the increasing cost of production and limited core base of fans as the excuse. Funny that the series was never sold into syndication of any type isn't it?

Sept 9: Enterprise Added: Items from the new Star Trek series 'Enterprise' have been added to the Star Trek museum at the Las Vegas Hilton's 'Star Trek Experience'. Also being added are items from Deepspace Nine, Voyager and Star Trek Insurrection. The ride is still a waste of money.

Sept 9: Hanks Wants Bond: Hollywood A-Lister Tom Hanks hankers there's only one role he'd still love to play - James Bond.  Hanks would do anything to become the British super agent. He says, "I wanted to be James Bond when I was growing up and I have always wanted to be James Bond." Hanks would also go so far as taking his clothes off if that is what a role requires. No Way Tom! (scott strout)

Sept 9: Highlander 5: The rumors are abound once again of a fifth Highlander installment. Filming is reportedly scheduled to begin in early 2003. Let's hope that this is a false rumor. There hasn't been a decent Highlander sequel yet to honor the incredible original film. The title of this debacle... Highlander: The Source. (the official highlander site)

He'll play Seth Bullock, a former Marshal turned merchant, who sets up shop in a small town. Production begins next month in Los Angeles of all places. Heaven forbid shooting in Arizona or Texas. I think the High Chaparral sets are still set up and in use for shows in Arizona.

Sept 4: Witchblade Axed: Despite strong ratings through two seasons TNT has decided to drop the series going out with a bang. It is also believed that Butlers health problems, alcohol rehab, during this season played a part in TNT's overall decision. Witchblade drew at least a 2.0 rating during both of its seasons which is considered very good. It may be possible for another network to pick up the series... but will anyone step forward.

Sept 4: DVD Boxed Sets Coming: The news has hit again about older series boxed sets coming to DVD. This year or next fans can expect to see 'Sliders', 'Battlestar Galactica', 'Quantum Leap', 'Dragnet', 'Emergency', and 'The Rockford Files'. Babylon 5 is already on the way to DVD.

Sept 4: To Much X-Files: The Sci-Fi Channel will be airing it's new X-Files pick-up in four hour blocks on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 7pm to 11pm. Picking up this series, for way to much money, was more important than keeping many original series such as... yes, The Invisible Man and The Chronicle.
